The eighth edition of Open Source GIS Spanish Speaking World (March from 26th to 28th, 2014) is without doubt, the meeting point and the nexus of all the user groups of free geospatial softwarein the Spanish speaking world.
In the precisely seven previous editions of the free GIS Conference . Seven editions have served, among other agenda items, to bind and agglomerated a set of initiatives and isolated individuals (developers , academics, GIS decsion makers, ...) to form a stable, mature and growing community. A community of free GIS in the Spanish speaking world, which could managed to articulate and organize locally and globally, capacity building courses and scientific exchange in the form of meetings , seminars, conferences.
The upcoming meeting will be in Girona, as its annual meeting point .
At this point of maturity , from organizing the event we agree that now is the time to go one step further , to relaunch the conference with new activities, new formats , new challenges and higher level of participation from all of you, with the aim of generating new synergies, new opportunities to grow, to form and create offers on demands and tailore the solutions to needs of communities (see OpenCommunity Approach).
As in every edition, the 2014 event will provide access to all the tools and possible channels that you can use to create a maximum benifit out of the conference. The design of the conference will provide the opportunity to people to talk, share, explain and demonstrate a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
